Helping Job Seekers in Ohio
RSS

During these tough economic times, public libraries offer many services to job seekers, many of whom are unemployed, such as internet access, books and materials on the job search and application process, and technology training.

The State Library of Ohio collected suggestions from the Ohio public library community for use of a one-time supplemental appropriation to serve the unemployed.  These responses were shared with the American Library Association Washington Office to be used in their request for funding.

We received several responses and many were interested in what other libraries in Ohio are doing to help serve job seekers.  We have created the 'Ideas' page to share these responses and a 'Resources' page with training resources for librarians serving job seekers.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the suggestions, as well as your experiences and best practices on helping patrons searching for employment. If you would like to contribute content within these pages you can upload documents  using the 'Documents' tab. You can also start and participate in discussions using the 'Discussion' tab.
