Advisory Council
The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Advisory Council is appointed by the State Library Board. This fifteen member Council shall be broadly representative of Ohio libraries and shall advise the State Library Board as outlined below. Charge: The charge of the LSTA Advisory Council is to advise and counsel the State Library on matters related to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the LSTA program for Ohio. The Council will review the Long Range Plan for the Ohio LSTA Program; advise the State Library concerning policy matters relating to the Ohio LSTA Program; assist the State Library in the determining state-wide programmatic needs and priorities; review grants proposals and, provide other assistance regarding LSTA as requested by the State Library. The Council may create subcommittees to advance the work of the Council. Membership: The LSTA Advisory Council shall be broadly representative of public, academic, institution, school and special libraries as well as users of library services, especially underserved populations. Members of the Council shall serve a term of three years. Members shall be eligible for reappointment, but no one shall serve more than six years consecutively. The State Library Board shall appoint replacements to complete the term of members who resign or are removed before their term expires. Officers: The Council shall elect a chairperson and a vice chair-person at the first meeting following July 1st of each year. The Deputy State Librarian shall serve as Secretary of the Council. Meetings: The Advisory Council shall meet at least two times per year with other meetings scheduled as deemed necessary. Members may be reimbursed for necessary travel expenses in accordance with State law and procedure. Attendance: A member may be dismissed by the State Librarian for missing three consecutive meetings and the State Librarian shall request the State Library Board to appoint a replacement to fill out the term of that individual. |
